About Jacqueline

Built from practice, not theory.

Meet Jacqueline McDonough, M.Ed.

Jacqueline McDonough is the Founder and Executive Director of Camp Jamison, an educator, speaker, and youth development practitioner who has spent more than 15 years building spaces where young people can experience peace, joy, belonging, and meaningful relationships.

Camp Jamison began with a deeply personal belief: young people deserve places where they can be safe, known, and free to experience childhood. Jacqueline helped grow Camp Jamison from 9 campers in its first summer into an organization serving young people from Philadelphia through overnight camp, year-round programming, and partnerships with schools and community organizations.

In 2026, Camp Jamison partnered with the School District of Philadelphia to provide a residential summer experience for 70 high school students from across the city.

Jacqueline's work is grounded particularly in the experiences of Philly youth and young people impacted by community violence. Rather than treating summer programming simply as recreation, she examines how staff culture, restorative practices, developmental relationships, nature, joy, routines, and youth voice can intentionally create healing-centered environments.

Today, she helps other summer programs translate those lessons into practices that fit their own young people and communities.
